Considering the emphasis on sustainable solutions and environmental awareness in the last few years, Meyers set out to design and produce a card made from paper, and so completely recyclable, that it could effectively replace PVC cards in many applications. Unhappy that a tremendous amount of PVC cards were ending up in landfills, and that in most cases these cards were only for single use, or limited use at best, we set out to find a solution that was “sustainable”.
The result is the patented Meyers Greencard™, made from paper, but with the look and feel of plastic. Perfect for use as gift cards, music download cards, software downloads, RFID cards, or any other limited use applications. Codes can be delivered with magnetic stripes, bar codes, RFID, and other concealed security measures.
Environmental benefits are considerable. Among the benefits, are savings in water usage. The Meyers Greencard™ uses 340 Liters per 1000 cards produced. PVC production of 1000 cards requires 3,026 Liters. This demonstrates an 89% savings for the Meyers Greencard™. Producing 10 Million gift cards creates a savings equivalent to 49 years of water use of a typical household family of four.
